Nick Nicholson graduated from the University of Rhode Island in 1974 with a BA in English. After working in residential real estate in New England for several years, he moved to Atlanta in 1979 to pursue other interests. Always intrigued with photography, he initially worked for a photographic portrait company based in Marietta. While there he read a random article about two women in New Jersey who had created a successful photographic inventory business. Their model led him to develop his first company, Video Inventory Associates, Inc. offering him the opportunity to marry their idea with the then novel VHS technology. The idea was initially successful but not particularly challenging or rewarding. With a background in real estate and having found a medium that satisfied his creative bent, he approached the chief engineer for the Dallas based developer, Trammel Crow hoping to marry the new technology with their, then nascent, project, The Galleria complex located at the junction of Interstate 285 and Cobb Parkway. After shooting the project from three different angles on a weekly basis for several months, they requested that the raw footage be edited. Once again, thankfully and coincidentally, VHS editing was just being offered for the first time by Panasonic. VIA, Inc. was born of their needs. By focusing solely on corporate television production and post production, the Company has successfully carved a niche in the market. Since that modest beginning, the Company serves local, regional, national and international firms. The rest, as they say, is history.
